Dr. Neigh is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. She received her PhD in Neuroscience in 2004 from The Ohio State University. During her postdoctoral training at Emory University she was recruited to join the faculty. She began her faculty appointment in July 2007. Dr. Neigh has received multiple awards including an American Heart Scientist Development Grant, National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression Young Faculty Award, an American College of Neuropsychopharmacology Young Investigator Award, and a NINDS sponsored postdoctoral NRSA.
Research in the Neigh Laboratory focuses on the role of cerebral vascular compromise in the generation of affective disorders. Her work places a particular emphasis on periods of increased plasticity and susceptibility to insults such as development (prenatal, postnatal, and puberty) and aging.
